Why

By AR

You never completed
What you knew you always needed
Now you’re stuck lookin’ in life’s eyes
Like it’s the biggest secret

It’s more than preachin’
That you need to become a man with meaning
It’s more than dreaming
That you need in life to start living

It’s more than killing
That you need on paper to be noticed

Stay focused
And know the choices you make
Weren’t best chosen
This is the closing

For the chapter you prepared in life for losing
No more foolishness
And understand you are a man with sense
Finish all your accomplishments

And take all of what heaven sent
Life is here for the making
All for the taking

You are here to win
Not fail
So, why?

This poem made me feel like life has more meaning then we come to realize and it shouldn’t be wasted. There is a time and place for everything. When it is time for one to grow up one should do so because no one wants life to pass them by. Time is a precious valuable thing and once it’s gone, one can’t look back and think about what they could have changed.

    AR,

Thank you for sharing your poem. The lines, “This is the closing / For the chapter you prepared in life for losing” really resonated with me. I needed to hear that message of letting go and starting anew today. I like that you’ve made today the metaphorical end of a chapter because that means it is still important to and plays its part in the story of your life. You just are moving on. That is beautiful to me.

Please keep writing. I’d love to read more.

    Your fan,

    Rachael
