Why are we fighting and killing
Over stuff that’s still going to be here when we die?
Why are we starving, homeless and asking for change
Instead of making billions with our million dollar brains?
Why do our elders talk bad about the youth that sell drugs
Instead of showing them something new?
Can’t they see the young only do what they know?
Why do we sit on our butts and pray ‘til we’re old and grey
For answers and opportunities that are never goin’ come?
Because it’s eazy to pray and wait for someone to give you something
N’ hard to think and take action
Frederick Douglass said it best:
“I prayed for freedom for 20 years and received no answer
Until I prayed with my legs”
